The Buschmühle is a former watermill and today's run-of-river power plant in Hagen-Garenfeld.

The first written mention of the bush mill can be dated to the year 1507.
The operation of the mill was discontinued in the mid-1950s, after which the operation was empty for a long time. Since the 1980s, the old mill, rebuilt as a run-of-river power plant, is back in operation.

In addition to the actual mill building, a residential and office building as well as a double house made of brick belong to the complex, which is a listed building.

The Alte Buschmühle is located in Hagen-Garenfeld on the Ruhrtalstraße and has a long history that goes back to 1507, when it was first mentioned in documents. Originally it served as a water mill and was closely linked to the nearby noble residence Haus Busch. At that time it was subject to the so-called milling requirement, which meant that the farmers in the area had to have their grain milled there.

Around 1900 the old mill burned down and a year later it was rebuilt in its current form as a grinding mill over the Lenne. Today it is part of a run-of-river power plant that uses the water power of the Lenne to generate energy. The historical significance of the place remains, however, and it is a worthwhile destination for history buffs as well as nature lovers and cyclists. The mill is located in a scenic area characterized by the river and the surrounding forests and invites you to go on extensive exploration tours along the Ruhrtal cycle path.
