Next to Preikestolen and Trolltunga, this is probably the most visited rock formation. However, the ascent and descent require more stamina and better gear than the route to Preikestolen. Anyone wearing sneakers here is doing something wrong. Nevertheless, you'll see many tourists wearing inappropriate clothing. This applies to both shoes and jackets and pants.

If you want, you can stand on Kjeragbolten and you'll surely find someone to take a photo. It wasn't for me; the cliff drops 1,000 meters vertically.

The rock in the crevice - maybe already seen a few times on photos and thought "I want to go there"? Here he is!

A great hiking route, which leads on the one hand over a high plateau, but on the other hand also contains some passages, where you have to ascend and down. Great nature, magnificent views, and at the end (actually half way) the "main event", which invites you to perhaps the ultimate test of courage. The Kjeragbolten (Kjerag is the name of the mountain, Bolten means bolt) sits enthroned between the rocks, about 2m² floor area, under a 1,000 m nothing. Nevertheless, there is often a queue, because if you have already taken the way there, almost everyone wants to stand on the stone to impress with the photos afterwards.

For round-trip one should plan around five hours, mountable equipment (and a camera) is of course compulsory. Since you are in the mountains, you should consider that the weather can change.

In Norway, it's light in Norway for a long time, so you can take your time. If you are out in the late afternoon, there is an increased chance that even basejumpers will jump off the Kjerag.

Parked at the eastern starting point, costs (e) 100 NKr, there is also a toilet and a restaurant. You should consider taking a ferry ride across the Lysefjord for at least a stretch, because then you can also ride the great Serpentine Road and enjoy great views from the water. But make sure beforehand, when the drives, and possibly reserve; Depending on the season, there is a special offer for tourists besides the regular ferry.

The famous "Kugel" hangs about 1100m above the Lysefjord and is one of the three highlights of a trip to Fjord Norway beside Preikestolen and Trolltunga. Getting up to the approx. 1 m ^ 2 large footprint is easy - as long as you can hide where you are. The view from the neighboring plateau fantastic. However, you are rarely alone. Around noon is already times queue announced.

When wet, the hike to Kjerag is difficult, as it goes steeply over smooth rocks up and down. 2.5h, 1h stay and 2.5h back and take enough water. Good shoes with non-slip sole are required.

Cool variant: In the evening, bivouac up and stand alone on the ball at sunrise.

Kjerag and Kjeragbolten are wonderfill places you never imagined could be true. From Kjerag the Jumpsuit-jumpers are taking off. If you are lucky to meet them up there stay and get a live insight how they prepare and jump off the cliff.. goosebumps!! :)
