After years of planning and construction, the museum opened in 2007. Nearly two dozen historic buildings, including farmhouses, alpine huts, barns, and a chapel, form a complete village ensemble. Some of the buildings originally came from further afield and were faithfully reconstructed, such as the Kasalm from the Berchtesgaden region. There's something to see everywhere, whether in the beautifully maintained gardens, the carpentry workshop, the shoemaker's shop, or the distillery and brewery. A great deal of work and attention to detail has gone into the site. And there are always practical events and demonstrations, from bread baking to beer brewing.

We visited the museum on our Bodensee Königssee bike tour, so unfortunately we couldn't look at everything so intensively. It's definitely worth a visit🤩. During the visit, the batteries of the bikes can be recharged in specially constructed boxes. 👌

The museum, named after the ski racer Markus Wasmeier, presents old craftsmanship and the typical farm architecture of the Bavarian Oberland. A short detour is worth it!
