Shortly after the beautiful refuge, the Schlernhaus, it's another 100 meters in altitude to the summit cross. If you train again a great view and can walk on to the Santner spitze.

In the middle of the Schlern massif, Monte Petz is the highest point at 2,564 meters. From the Schlernhaus you can follow a short path and climb Monte Petz in no time.

The mountain is the namesake of the surrounding mountain group, the Schlerngruppe. He himself carries a plateau, whose early pastoral use is attested by prehistoric finds. In 1974 the Schlern was placed under protection with some adjacent areas in a nature park. In the South Tyrolean mythology he is considered the home of the Sciliar Witches.
