1135 first mentioned as (Catholic) Remigius Church
The church tower belonged - as usual - to the town of Kibo, because it served as a warning and defense tower. Its bells rang in the event of any danger such as fire, impending attacks, etc.
The medieval cemetery was also around the church building.
1556: Due to the Reformation, the church building was renamed "Lutheran Church" and St. Peter's Church

The Protestant church in Kirchheimbolanden was dedicated to Saint Paul. He was initially an opponent of the Christian movement and was not called to the apostleship by Jesus Christ during his lifetime like the other apostles, but was only converted later with the famous "Damascus experience" (see Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 9).
His attribute, with which he is usually depicted in paintings or as a statue, is the sword with which he was executed. According to the Roman law of the time, such a sentence was a "privilege" (quick death and not, like other types of execution, associated with a long, painful death struggle) that was available to the citizens of Rome.
Peter (Peter) is also known together with Paul as the "prince of the apostles"; their common memorial day in the calendar of saints is June 29th.

St. Peter's Church was built in the 12th century and is the oldest church building in Kirchheimbolanden. At first it was called Remigius Church. It was not until the 17th century that it received its current name "St. Peter's Church". In the meantime, the church building functioned as a simultaneous church, as there was no Catholic church in the city until the beginning of the 19th century.

The interior of the church is truly worth seeing. The "Mozart Organ" is particularly noteworthy. In 1745, Johann Michael Stumm built his largest organ for the castle church, with 36 stops on three manuals and a pedal. In 1748, he added a carillon. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played the instrument while passing through in 1778.
