The western summit of the Vioz massif, Punta Linke, used to be the location of a material ropeway. This led from Cogolo at 1,160 meters up to the 3,629 meter high summit. The material web was built during World War I to ensure supplies for the troops.
Today the Museo Punta Linke is located at this point, probably the highest memorial of the First World War. A preserved supply system can be viewed there - the ice has been very well preserved. This is how you immerse yourself in a world long past. A very special place!

Absolutely worth seeing museum at the original place (the highest in Europe!). On display are installations from the First World War, in particular the mountain station of a small cable car, which provided supplies for the fighting to this height. From Punta Linke you have a wonderful view of the northern valley, which is partially blocked when you look at Monte Vioz. There is also a museum in the tunnel on the summit that shows the situation of a lookout post in World War I - at over 3,500m!
