First few k from Bourg are toughest then come the short crude tunnels (some unlit) with one long one 300m+. Views down to the Romanche are stunning. After the balcony road comes the hairpins which go on for a while to the village. A couple of bars in village. Road continues up another 100m of ascent to end of tarmac then turning to level fairly smooth gravel for 3k@1650m height to Villard-Reymond. A little gravel climb just before the village is sting in the tale. The road bypasses the village. We were on road bikes with 28s. Descent usually great fun but we did in deluge so was a little tricky.

Beautiful route on less good asphalt, but with beautiful views from the other side of Le Bourg d'Oisans. Do bring a light, because there are a few unlit tunnels with bad asphalt!

Beautiful balcony route, but only do this uphill because there are three tunnels that you can better cycle uphill. Road surface is paved to the top. Then 3 km unpaved. Great for gravel bikes, but less so for road bikes.

Great road, but you should have a head for heights. The first long tunnel is now illuminated on the inside and labeled with information on the distance to the respective tunnel end.
The remaining three are still unlit, but also quite short.
The slope varies between 8% - 14%.
