The monumental cemetery on the summit of Monte Grappa was designed by Giovanni Greppi and the sculptor Giannino Castiglioni.
The shrine contains the remains of 22,950 soldiers who fell during the Great War. The funerary construction has a columbarium motif and is clearly Roman inspired.
Inside the shrine there is also the tomb of the Marshal of Italy, general Gaetano Giardino, who commanded the Grappa army here, leading it to the final victory.
It is not permitted to introduce bicycles, bivouack or camp in this sacred place.
