The "Untreusee" recreation area is located to the south of the city of Hof. Although it was created by man, the lake blends into the soft, hilly landscape as if it had been created by nature itself. A paradise for swimmers, sailors, surfers and anglers, but also for walkers and people who are simply looking for peace and quiet.

The lake, which is around 2 kilometers long and 700 meters wide and on which almost all water sports are permitted with the exception of motorboating, has an area of 600,000 square meters in summer at normal water levels. The water depth at the artificially constructed 300-meter-long dam is around 15 meters.

In the southern part of the lake, bordered by 4 pedestrian bridges, an important biotope of interest to nature lovers was created at the inflow of the Untreubach.
