The predecessor of today's facility was probably a fort-like moated castle. Today's three-storey complex encloses a square courtyard, the fourth side of which is delimited by a shield wall with a tower. The main and entrance wings to the south are framed by two square corner towers.

Kannawurf Castle is a real surprise and definitely worth seeing. With a little luck, you can find someone to talk to in the courtyard or garden who will explain the project of the two extremely committed associations in the castle to you. The garden is a real feast for the eyes and an experience for all the senses. The fact that the newly laid out plantation borrows from Johann Peschel, who also names the Lords of Kannawurf in his garden regulations from 1597, can be learned from the small bag of seeds that visitors to the Renaissance garden receive as a nice gift. You just have to wish this project and its enthusiastic colleagues a lot of success.
