Hersbruck Castle now serves as the seat of the District Court. Before the year 1000 it was built as a castle to protect the Pegnitz Bridge. In 1360, Emperor Charles IV acquired the property and had a house built for the New Bohemian administrator. 1517 New construction of the castle by the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg, towers and side wings were built between 1616 and 1622. Beautiful stucco ceilings inside. Next to it is the classical Fronveste (prison), built between 1838 and 1840.
