The water tower is the landmark of the town of Genthin. Construction of the tower was decided upon in 1933, and the groundbreaking ceremony took place in 1934. Construction lasted approximately two years. The tower served, among other things, to create reserves to compensate for the town's water shortage during the hot summer months and to ensure the necessary pressure in the supply lines.
Since 1995, it has no longer served as a reservoir. The water tower is now a listed technical monument.

Built in 1934/35, the 48-meter-high, octagonal water tower Genthin is one of the city's landmarks. It is located at the corner of B1 (Geschwister-Scholl-Straße) / B107 (Jerichower Straße).
