          The history of the castle, which has been beautifully renovated today, can be traced back to the Middle Ages and was always closely linked to the respective ownership of the former manor as an agricultural unit.
          In the last days of the Second World War, the church school in Neschwitz and the theater pavilion in the castle park were destroyed. The communist mayor of Neschwitz, who was then appointed by the Soviet command, had released the New Palace for plundering. As a result, two weeks after the end of the war, on Pentecost Sunday, May 20, 1945, it was set on fire and burned to the ground, destroying the valuable documents of the ornithological station. In the same year, Baron von Vietinghoff was expropriated as part of the land reform, regardless of his services to the land and forest, and the palace grounds were declared public property.
