The tower is easy to climb, about 25 meters in altitude on 100 steps up to the 360-degree viewing platform. Admission costs 1 euro for adults and 50 cents for children up to 14 years (April 2019). At the foot there is a small free parking lot and enough benches and tables. There is a kiosk with beer, bratwurst, cake and more. A beautiful hiking trail leads from the Jakobsberg to the Porta-Kanzel.

Unfortunately, the visitor platform on the tower is closed in winter. In summer, however, offers a fantastic view of the Wiehengebierge, the Weserbergland and on the other side into the North German lowlands.
