        In the castle is the homeland room Podelwitz of the Knochenmuß family, which shows a collection of household items, economic goods and postcards. It is one of the most comprehensive collections of this kind in all of Saxony. There is also a boarding house and a meeting center in the chateau. There is a restaurant in the former farm building next to the castle.

                    The local history rooms on the first floor of the moated castle have been a regional and national attraction for over 20 years. The unique collection of the Manfred and Irmgard Knochenmuß family includes thousands of individual pieces of regional history that have been collected over 60 years. They reflect life and everyday life in Colditz and the surrounding area over around 200 years of history.
                    The collection is not a museum and makes no claim to scientific quality. It has the charm of great diversity and yet a thematic order. The individual pieces come from the liquidations of companies and shops, from private households, but were also acquired through meticulous searches at auctions and flea markets. It was always important that they come directly from the Colditz region. It is shown in several rooms and can be viewed as a whole.
