The history of the mill
As early as 1300 the "Chapel of the wretched Marie" was located here. Later a mill was built in the gorge (cave), from which the name is probably derived. The Höllmühle has existed since 1538.
It mostly served as a grinding and cutting mill. In 1572 the mill was built from scratch. At that time, hunters from the Counts of Schönburg, who were referred to as chief forester, "sat" on the mill. Later the Höllmüller took over the pond management and in the last century he successfully tried to obtain the serving rights. The mill was connected to the inn. The now over 425 year old mill was reopened in 1992 after extensive reconstruction and modernization. ☺️👍🏻
