Grandmother Rocks
The plateau on which the Kasteler Felsenpfad dream loop runs consists of a horizontally deposited layer of rocks from the geological series of Buntsandstein. These continental deposits alternate between rocky sand and coarse gravel layers. The gravelly deposits were formed during times of higher water levels and associated higher flow velocities. In the layer sequences there are also less hard rocks such as claystone or transitional forms between sandstone and claystone. These can be weathered out more easily and the harder layers remain. This is how impressive shapes were created.

From the north slope you can climb the grandmother's rock. There is a beautiful view of the Kammweg and towards Blankenburg.
