A green hotspot is a special place in southern Limburg nature. It can be a place that is already known to everyone, but also an unknown place. The natural value is central.
This series of special Italian poplars (cypresses) is a wonderfully rustic green hot spot in the middle of Heuvelland. The trees offer a nice background effect towards Eys and Gulpen-Wittem. You really think you are here abroad!
Experience the Eyser Heuvelrug from Dunnenbosch:
While standing in the Dunnenbosch, you see the so-called Eyser Heuvelrug, a scene that does not appear to be Dutch. The Dunnenbosch in the large Geul and Gulpdal area forms a coherent forest area together with the Schweibergerbosch and the Wagelerbosch. The steep limestone slopes on the west side of the area are characteristic of the Dunnenbosch. These limestone slopes offer a special flora. It is a deciduous forest that offers space for the dormouse.
The Mediterranean feeling
Over the years, the Eyser Heuvelrug has developed into an iconic landscape element. Everyone has seen these trees, they are clearly visible from Wittem, Gulpen, Nijswiller and Eys. The winding road, the hilly landscape, the trees on the horizon. It is a pearl in the Limburg countryside. The poplar line in particular makes this part of Limburg a lively postcard.
