The Beltringharder Koog was created in the 1980s when part of the Wadden Sea, the Nordstrand Bay, was dyked. In the meantime, one of the largest lakes in Schleswig-Holstein can be found in the natural paradise on the North Sea, and a unique animal and plant world has developed in the saltwater and freshwater areas.
