If you are in Saarland, you must visit the Völklinger Hütte. It is not only an "industrial monument", which testifies to the past employment of the Saarlanders, but there are also regularly held interesting exhibitions.

If you are interested in industrial culture, you cannot avoid the imposing complex of the Völkinger Hütte, for which you should plan several hours.
The normal entrance fee is 17 euros!!!
Therefore, the "Tuesday afternoon special" is a real tip, as you can visit the entire facility free of charge from 4 p.m. (April-October until 7 p.m., November-March until 6 p.m.).
It should be noted that you are not allowed to publish photos without permission!!!

In the winter months you can still enjoy a grandiose light show in the evening, because the blast furnaces are illuminated in changing colors and you can take almost surreal photos.

A must is the ascent to the 45 meter high Gichtbrücke (platform above the blast furnaces). This is opaque, but the way up/down leads over gratings! With a bit of persuasion, an employee will take you upstairs in the elevator... ;o)

At the nearby car park there are also a few mobile homes with electricity (was free during my visit due to a defective payment machine). Here, however, nocturnal drift races are held by novice drivers.
