The Grabauer See (also Hohendammer Mühlenteich) is an artificial body of water. The lake is approximately 32 hectares in size and up to 2.3 meters deep. The lake is owned by the Sparkarn Cultural Foundation Stormarn. Since 2014, the foundation has also had the exclusive right of use. The lake, which was used for fish farming for a long time, has been renatured for some time. The aim is to increase biodiversity in the water. In addition, regular measurements of water quality and fauna are carried out. The studies show that water quality has improved and biodiversity in the lake has increased since the beginning of renaturation.
