    Where the Rhine and Moselle flow into each other: The Deutsches Eck is the landmark of Koblenz. The land was artificially filled in 1891. In memory of Kaiser Wilhelm I, his grandson Kaiser Wilhelm II had a monument erected here. The statue showed the emperor on his horse. However, it was destroyed in March 1945. A few years later, Federal President Theodor Heuß named the riderless pedestal a memorial to German unity. In 1993, the 37-meter-high monument was completed again with a reconstruction of the imperial rider.

    During the Federal Garden Show in 2011, the area around the Deutsches Eck became a beautiful promenade. Not far from the Deutsches Eck, the cable car to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress departs. You can find more information about the city's sights here: koblenz-touristik.de.

      The Moselle flows into the Rhine at the Deutsches Eck. In 1897, an artificial headland was created here, on which a monumental equestrian statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I was erected. This monument was not only intended to commemorate the Kaiser, but also his involvement in the founding of the German Empire - hence the name "Deutsches Eck". In fact, the mouth of the Moselle was also known as the Deutsches Eck earlier: in the late Middle Ages, the Teutonic Order built the Deutschherrenhaus near the mouth as an administrative headquarters. At that time, the mouth was called "Deutscher Ordt", but it soon became "Deutsches Eck".
