The goose thief fountain was created by Robert Diez between 1876 and 1880 with funds from the Güntz Foundation. The fountain, which gave the artist a worldwide reputation, is located in the Weißen Gasse, near the Kreuzkirche on the Altmarkt. However, it was only erected here in 1961 after the original Ferdinandplatz location had been destroyed in 1945.
