The Andreaskirche was built around 1500 from field and bricks. The tower, which was also made of fieldstone, was built in 1959 after a design by the Hamburg architect Gert Johannsen and received its copper cladding in 1995.

In the Thirty Years' War, according to a report by Pastor Wenger from 1628 troops of Tilly and Wallenstein plundered the church and burned the stalls.

In 1871, the interior of the church was redesigned by Landesbauinspektor Lohmeyer by dividing the space by wooden bundles of pillars into three ships with a wooden ceiling in English late Gothic Tudor style. In addition, the medieval altar and baroque pulpit were sold and replaced by a new pulpit altar.

However, after the Second World War, this pulpit altar was replaced by a brick altar and a low pulpit. On the initiative of Pastor O. W. Hellinger, between 1961 and 1967, wooden carved figures - twelve apostles, an enthroned Christ and a enthroned Virgin Mary - were brought back to the church from the medieval altar, which was removed in 1871, and found a new place on the north face.

Other old works of art in the church are the figures of the Apostles Peter and Paul at the altar (late 17th century) and the crucifix above the altar (1500), the Last Supper on the organ loft (late 17th century) and the figure of Mary with Child on the south wall (18th century).

Among the more recent pieces of furniture are the altar chandeliers from 1865 and an iron chandelier, which was built soon after 1871.

Singing as a power source, every 1st Sunday from 11.15 - 12.00

Every 1st Sunday of the month, after the service in the time from 11.15 - 12.00 clock, "singing as a source of power" in the St. Andrew's Church Kuddewörde instead.

Just try out your own voice, listen to the sound of the (piano) sounds and listen to the silence or walk through the church space, which is now possible every 1st Sunday of the month from 11.15 - 12.00.

Accompanied by piano sounds, we sing with our cantor Markus Schell simple, z.T. meditative songs u.a. from Taizé. Frequent repetition allows a relaxed, listening singing. The contents of the mostly short songs are an expression of joie de vivre, words of power and words of prayer.

Welcome are people with and without vocal experience, who want to make their voice sound different and want to strengthen their own sources of power while singing.

In the free breaks there are lyrics to hear or a shared silence. "Singing as a source of power" should build and strengthen people.

Open singing is free of charge and possible without registration. In nice summer weather, it takes place in the apple orchard of the pastorate. Our next dates are: Sun. 4th of August and Sun. 01.09.19
