The Werra Bridge is the only overpass over the Werra in Witzenhausen and is therefore a fully utilized structure for cars, bicycles, pedestrians and more.

Originally, the building, erected according to the building book in 1608, consisted of 7 natural stone vaults (sandstone) arranged one behind the other. In 1928 the building was widened with reinforced concrete vaults on both sides. After the 3 inner vaults were blown up in 1945, they were first replaced by a makeshift bridge and then in 1950 by a steel frame construction.

The Werra Bridge was built in 1608 with seven stone arches instead of a wooden bridge from the 14th century. It was blown up in 1945 and replaced in 1950.
It is partly designed as a stone arch bridge and in the middle as a steel structure and carries all road traffic, including pedestrians and cyclists, across the Werra on the Brückenstraße.
