St. Elizabeth's Church – Blue Church, Bratislava

Officially called the Church of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, it is commonly known simply as "the Blue Church."
The early 20th-century Secession Church of St. Elizabeth is characterized by its distinctive blue color. This is why it is popularly known as the Blue Church. Both the interior and exterior of the church are painted in light blue and decorated with blue majolica; the roof is covered with blue-glazed ceramic tiles. A 36.8-meter-high round tower is part of the structure.
Its façade is dominated by an elaborate mosaic. Completed in 1913, the church was built by the renowned Budapest architect Ödön Lechner in the Secession style with oriental elements. Many visitors consider this small architectural gem to be the most beautiful church in Bratislava.

Bratislava's blue church St. Elizabeth (Slovak: Kostol svätej Alžbety; Hungarian: Szent Erzsébet templom) was built in 1909 to 1913 in Jugendstil / Art Nouveau style with Romanesque pillars. Initially the church was painted with light pastel colours. Only later the now characteristic blue colour was applied.
