The building group of the "Kemenate" with the five-storey residential tower built shortly after 1385, the residential building dating from 1656 and the barn built around 1880. Today's landmark of the place was the former noble court of the Lords of Berneburg and the Lords of Biedenfeld.

The five-storey stone residential tower with a base area of a good 10 x 10 meters was previously fenced with an earth bulge and a rectangular moat, fed by the Sontra. The access to the approximately 20-meter-high bower was originally on the second floor, where the “eponymous” fireplace was also housed (the word “bower” contains the Latin term caminata = fireplace, stove, fireplace). The surrounding valleys were clearly visible from the strategically chosen location of the fortification.
