Bandlkramerlandl, historical landscape designation for the textile region around Waidhofen an der Thaya and Groß-Siegharts (Waldviertel); there since the 18th century home-industrial weaving of ribbons for linen, clothing and for use purposes (belts, cords) mainly from local linen yarn, some of sheep wool. Producers were publisher-dependent peasants, cottagers, and inmates whose family members were involved in the production process. The publishers ("Bandlkramer") secured their position by providing the necessary means of production (raw materials, looms) and by monopolizing the distribution of goods (employment of independent hawkers as "bandlträger"). The industrialization of the textile industry brought the end of the publishing system; From the middle of the 19th century, the band was produced in larger textile factories. The decline of the entire production branch in the region began in the second half of the 20th century.
