The ascent from Eisenberg Castle (Jezeří, the viewpoint a little above the castle is also highly recommended) leads with an almost constant 8-10% gradient up to the saddle of Jezerka.
The last meter is steeper, most drivers will have to push here. The rocky summit of Jezerka (German: Seeberg) can only be climbed anyway, but is rewarded with a great view. 🙂

The Alt Seeberg castle (Starý Žeberk) was once located southwest of the summit rock. Since Seeberg Castle was difficult to access and probably lacking water, it was abandoned in the middle of the 14th century and Neu Seeberg (Nový Žeberk) was built three kilometers to the west. Today only remnants of ramparts, moats and the castle courtyard can be guessed.

About the origin of the name: At the foot of the Ore Mountains, there was once a natural lake and moor landscape (so-called "lake meadow"). There was also the "Seestadtl" (Ervěnice) on the right bank of the Biela (Bílina). Unfortunately, both the lake landscape and the city fell victim to the open-cast lignite mine from the 1950s, which completely devastated large areas of the North Bohemian Basin.
Today only the "Ervěnický koridor", a huge railway and road dam through the "opencast mine of the Czechoslovak Army" (lom Československé armády) between Chomutov and Most, reminds of the former city.
