Very well-kept complex around one of the oldest buildings in Germany. The Lorsch Monastery dates back to the time of Charlemagne and has also been immortalized on postage stamps. Opposite is the pedestrian zone in Lorsch city center.

Coming from the old town hall on the market square, one first sees the architectural highlight of the UNESCO World Heritage: The picturesque Königshalle with the world-famous colorful sandstone facade is one of the few well-preserved buildings from the Carolingian era. Although their purpose is still unclear, their importance is undisputed. However, the entire monastery area has much more to offer, so it really pays to walk a few steps.
