Kozjak Waterfall, also known as Veliki Kozjak Waterfall, is the highest and most recognizable waterfall on the Kozjak Stream, which flows into the Soča River near Kobarid. The Kozjak Stream is a left tributary of the Soča River and originates high below the ridges of Oblego Brdo (1957m) and Krnčica (2142m). Several smaller streams flow into it, the most important of which is the Muhrank, which flows through Drežniške Ravne and Magozd.

The Kozjak Stream has carved out its bed and six waterfalls fall over rock barriers, the most famous of which is the second Veliki Kozjak Waterfall, which is 15 m high. The Veliki Kozjak Waterfall is one of the greatest attractions in Kobarid, also due to its easy accessibility. The waterfall has carved out a dark hall, the ceiling of which has collapsed and the bottom of which is flooded with a blue-green tolmun.

A beautifully maintained footpath leads to it, which begins in Kobarid at the bridge, also called Napoleon's Bridge, crosses a large hayfield, and at the end of this, at the stone bridge from 1895, near the confluence of the Kozjak and Soča rivers, we already encounter the first waterfall, called Mali Kozjak (height 8 m), which falls into a pool 10 m deep. Along the way, there are also a few caverns, remnants of the First World War.

The upper four waterfalls are difficult to access, as there are no maintained footpaths to them.

Since June 2019, a fee for the use of tourist infrastructure has been collected by the Municipality of Kobarid.

Very beautiful waterfall, almost Lord of the Rings similar atmosphere. Costs since June 2019, however, 4 euros entrance fee and was extremely crowded and tight touristy :(

Almost mystical mood at the waterfall. The moss-covered and damp-dripping rock walls seem almost unreal. From the waterfall itself I was very impressed. The mood there is limited in the pictures.

The path to the slap invites you to jump on the stones in the stream. Children have a blast. Unconditional recommendation!

Danger. May be overcrowded on weekends and public holidays.

A fantastic grotto is hidden at the end of a dark gorge. From a hole in the rock ceiling - together with the sunlight - a cascade falls in a 17-meter-long arch into a pond. If the water weren't so icy cold, one would swim to the circle of the sun in its center. And if the word wasn't so worn, this spot would be called “magical”.

Is a nice and recommended hike but in the meantime in addition to the time costs money. 4 euros per adult and children 2.50. In my opinion, half would be appropriate. Also this year I noticed for the first time a parking fee in the parking lot above the camp Koren.

There are many waterfalls – this one is a special one, as the water cascades into a picturesque, deep blue pool at the end of the gorge – almost mystical. A dreamlike atmosphere!
This natural spectacle is easily reached via wooden walkways!
