With a maximum gradient of 'only' ten percent, the Eikenberg looks fairly easy on paper, but the cobblestone route is a drag. There are small patches of asphalt along the side of the road that offer a short break for riders who prefer a more relaxed approach. The Eikenberg climb may not be as well known as the Oude Kwaremont or the Paterberg, but it plays an important role in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the Tour of Flanders.

The Eikenberg is a slope and street in Maarke, a village in the Flemish Ardennes in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The cobblestones on the Eikenberg have been protected as a monument since 1995. The road climbs from the Maarkebeek and the Maarkeweg (N457) to the hill Kerselareberg (N8). To the west lies Ladeuze, to the east the Kapelleberg. The mountain was already 42x part of the Tour of Flanders.
