The Roikiersee was created in the 13th century. Monks from the Cistercian monastery in Glücksburg cleared a moor area here, dammed the lake and used it for fresh water supply and carp farming.

In the forest area around the lake, there are still oak and beech stands, which are almost 200 years old. Also, you can find there plant species that are on the red list, also many water birds, as well as roe deer and fallow deer. Many of the trails are approved for equestrian sports.
