Here are bunkers of various types close to the beach. At the parking lot, which is located nearby, there are picture and text panels, with lots of information, including the stranded shipwrecks. Also nearby a rest area with toilet, and the Sneglehuset with interesting facade.

On a command bunker you can even see the roof tiles that were attached to it for camouflage. Many of the bunkers were camouflaged as houses.

Denmark was occupied by the Germans for a total of five years during World War II (April 9, 1940 – May 5, 1945).
To prevent an Allied invasion, the German Wehrmacht built the Atlantic Wall during the occupation of Denmark. One section of the Atlantic Wall, the "Thyborøn Fortress," originally comprised 66 large and 40 small bunkers along the coast. Danish workers built the bunkers under German supervision in 1943 and 1944 with the aim of protecting the entrance to the Limfjord from enemy ships.
Near the harbor entrance, an R636 type observation bunker can be found.
