The most beautiful path in the Alps that I have ever ridden. Virtually no traffic (Monday afternoon, early September). The climb is incredibly hard: almost a continuous 15% gradient over 12km from Sölden, with only a very short flat section before the toll booth. Further up you notice that the air is getting thin, with every meter of altitude the path becomes more strenuous and your legs become more acidic. When you get to the top you know why you did this to yourself!

It's super chilly in the tunnel - even when climbing. Bring a windstopper or a jacket with you. Short sleeves weather on both sides and about 5C in the tunnel. The asphalt is quite smooth.
