The German Roentgen Museum is located in the historic old town. Here you follow in the footsteps of the first German Nobel Prize winner and learn a lot about Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen - about his life, but above all about his discovery of X-rays and the many possible uses of this technology.

The old town of Lenneps was built in the Quellmuldental of the Linepe-Bach. Your city plan is still a nearly circular Rundling. The medieval main trade route Cologne-Magdeburg cuts through the city from south-southwest to northeast and formed in the former city wall a Cologne and a Schwelmer gate. A second street train (now Wetterauer Straße-Alter Markt-Berliner Straße) relieved the highway and leads from the gates to the city's market square. From there one also opens up the churchyard with the main church of the city. With the Lüttringhauser gate in the northwest and the Mühlenpforte in the east, Lennep had two more entrances to the city, which were connected with each other and the market square via another street (today: Neugasse-Alter Markt-Kronenstraße-Mühlenstraße). The medieval fortification ring, which presumably consisted of a wall, a rampart and a moat, is still traversed by Wallstrasse. In the north, various extinguishing and drinking water ponds joined the Wallstrasse up to the Thüringsberg, but today they are replaced by a green area.
