The Veltishof was first mentioned in 1663 under the name "Valentin Waldvogel". Until 1727, the farm was inherited by farmers.
In 1903 a fire destroyed the farm, but it could be rebuilt. By inheritance, the farm passed to the Prussian tax authorities in 1928.
Start of accommodation edit
From 1935/1936 three bedrooms were provided by the Kurverein to the German Youth Hostel Association. A year later there was an entry in the hostel directory with the name Franz Xaver Schwarz.
From 1941 the youth hostel associations were dissolved and taken over by the Reichsbund der Jugend.
