The lower part of the house is solidly bricked and plastered above. The entrance area, like the direct access from the bridge, was designed in Art Nouveau style.[2] The staircase was designed as a “greenhouse corridor” based on the Botanical Garden; this form was subsequently used at other Berlin S-Bahn stations. The substructure of the staircase as well as the platform structures are decorated with red and white tiles in a checkerboard pattern. Next to the staircase there is a subsequently installed elevator system, which is visually based on the staircase.
