In the middle of the city, directly at the Emden city hall located, the Ratsdelft was earlier larger and played also after 1900 still a role as Umschlagplatz. Various trading houses were located here. Marine painters such as Willy Stöwer and graphic artist Ernst Petrich impressively document the maritime and busy life of this Emden harbor section around 1920 and thereafter (Wikipedia).
