The Roman House is a presumable cult building of the former native population from the 2nd century AD, which was found about 800 meters east of the Bärenschlössle in the deer park near Stuttgart.

This building was discovered by chance in 1921 in the so-called Red and Wild Boar Park. It was excavated and examined in the same year and the following year. A further examination was not carried out until the spring of 1976. The building has sides measuring 26 metres each and outer walls 60 cm - 80 cm thick. There is an entrance at each corner, probably with a door. The main entrance is on the south-eastern wall and had two wings. Foundations were found inside that suggest that there must have been a covered corridor around the inner courtyard, supported by wooden beams at regular intervals, similar to a colonnade. The meaning and purpose of this building, which must have been located in the middle of the forest even at that time, is not clear. It is assumed that it was a temple or a cult building built by the local population at the time.

The Roman House is a presumably cult building of the former local population from the 2nd century AD.

In 1921 and 1922 it was archaeologically examined under Oscar Paret and Gerhard Bersu and re-explored in 1976 by the Baden-Württemberg State Monuments Office.

The floor plan of the building has an external dimension of 26 × 26 meters, the walls are 60 to 80 centimeters thick. Foundations parallel to the wall suggest a covered walkway.

Apart from broken fragments of various clay pots from a pit in the interior, no finds were made.

Habitation seems unlikely, as the site and its surroundings were remote and sparsely populated at the time and, even according to the findings to date, are completely isolated.

The finds from the excavations are in the collection of the Württemberg State Museum in the Old Castle in Stuttgart.
