Where quartz granite porphyry was mined until 1950, the idyllic "Haselberg" nature reserve now stands. The water-filled quarry measures approximately 27 meters at its deepest point. The 8- to 15-meter-high cliffs that line the lake create a unique landscape and invite you to linger. Due to the unique underwater landscape, where remnants of mining, such as rails and mine trolleys, can still be found, the lake is particularly popular with divers. Today, the TANA (Ammelshain Diving and Nature Conservation Center) is used year-round as a training area.
