The breath of history blows here in Glenfinnan on the banks of the picturesque Loch Shiel. The memorial commemorates the defeated rebellion of Bonnie Prince Charlie, who landed nearby in 1745 and sailed away again after his defeat in 1746. The column dates from 1815 and offers a great photo opportunity with the lake and mountain backdrop.

Monument in memory of the unsuccessful Jacobite uprising under Bonnie Prince Charles, which began here in 1745 and ended in a bloody fiasco. The figure shows an unknown highlander. From the tower you have a beautiful view of Loch Shiel, which was immortalized as Hogwarts Lake in the Harry Potter films.
