Planica (also the valley below Ponce) is a glacial valley in the northwestern part of the Julian Alps. It stretches from the settlement of Rateče to the mountain lodge, Dom v Tamarju, and from there the valley continues under the name Tamar. Planica is bounded on the west by the Ponc mountain range (the highest peak is Visoka Ponca with 2274 m), on the east by Ciprnik (1745 m) and Sleme (1815 m), and on the south side (in Tamar) by Mojstrovka (2366 m), Travnik (2379 m). ) and Jalovec (2645 m).

The valley is best known for its ski jumps. Planica also has the largest airfield in the world, which is traditionally the last in line every year.
