Starting in Hornburg, the path runs along the ridge path along the “Green Belt” to the “Kleiner Fallstein” nature reserve in an easterly direction. At the former German-German border you pass a piece of border fence with the associated border tower and cross the small fall stone with its sessile oaks, hornbeams and numerous spring flowers. It continues through the southern area of the "Großer Fallstein" with the Bismarck Tower as a lookout point and then back to the west. At the level of the town of Hoppenstedt, you can marvel at the former limestone quarry and, in spring, the Adonis roses. The quarry is a particularly valuable geotope and is protected as a natural monument. The last kilometers back to the starting point run parallel to the Ilse. The circular route can also be hiked from Osterwieck or the Hoppenstedt hiking car park at the old train station (Hauptstrasse 31).
Tip: The six partial routes are ideal for a shorter hike. One of them is the Osterwiecker circuit through the southern Fallstein, which can also be used to extend the large circular route “Hiking connects”. The forest restaurant “Willeckes Lust”, the guesthouse and excursion restaurant “Fallsteinklause” and the hotel and restaurant “Waldhaus” offer refreshment opportunities.
