    The Dreiherrenstein is the first of a line of 108 stones built in 1776 as a border marker.
    This is where the Sponheim, Oberstein and Wild-Rheingrafen territories met.

      The Dreiherrenstein is the starting point of the Hintersponheim stone line, built in 1776. It formed the border between the lands of the Dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken and the Margrave of Baden in the Hinterer County of Sponheim. A large part of the former 108 stones is still preserved in the original and can be seen along the way. The name "Dreiherrenstein" stands for the fact that long before 1776 at this point 3 landlords bordered on each other. The landmark still visible today comes from the Oldenburg-Prussian period. GO stands for Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, KP = Kingdom of Prussia and 1853 = year.
