The former Augustinian convent was built between 1162 and 1175. In 1803 it was dissolved. The former monastery church now serves as a parish church and is dedicated to the holy martyr Leodegar von Autun.

The monastery church has a unique feature: the bells ring here at half past 12 for lunch. In the past, the monks and lay brothers were "called" early from their work in the garden, from the fields and from the fish ponds so that they could be in the church on time for the midday prayer.
The monastery church is home to the oldest playable organ in Rhineland-Palatinate, the Balthasar-König organ dates from 1714, it is also affectionately called "the little queen" in Niederehe.

Church and monastery in Niederehe
The former Augustinian convent was built between 1162 and 1175. In 1803 it was dissolved. The old monastery church, the oldest parts of which date back to the 12th century, is particularly worth seeing. In addition to the grave of Phillips von der Mark and his wife Katharina, there are choir stalls from 1530 and valuable sculptures from the 17th century. Newly renovated: the Balthasar-König organ from 1715.
