I heard the piercing call of a bittern for the first time in over 30 years on the Baltic Sea when I was in Hüttelmoor.
The beautiful route had a second highlight: a new tarmac road about 3 km long in the middle of the Rostock Heath, which makes cycling more pleasant.
The mouth of the Warnow is always a highlight anyway... even without the smelly tourist ships 👍😜
