Miguel de CERVANTES (1547 to 1616) also erected a literary monument to the technical monument of the windmills: the most famous figure of the author, who is regarded as the national poet of Spain and whose work can certainly be valued as world literature: "Don QUIJOTE", also known as the "Knight of of the sad figure” and always accompanied by his faithful squire Sancho Panza, fights in one of the fictional stories a – of course hopeless – fight against windmills, in which he thinks he recognizes four-armed giants.

Flour mill from 1724 in the most beautiful place in Zeeland

This old Brouwershaven flour mill and national monument has been transformed into an attractive place to stay and is in a top location directly on the harbor and overlooks the Zeeland countryside, the Grevelingenmeer and the town, within walking distance of the center and the beach. Molen De Haan looks authentic, but is fully equipped. Built in 1724 and equipped with a modern interior, but various authentic features remind of the former function.

The mill does not seem to be open to the public as it has an apartment. On my tour it was still a highlight, which is worth a visit.
