Whether St. Karin or St. Katarina, it is certainly the most striking church ruins of the city of Visby on Gotland. Together with the associated monastery, the former church was built between 1233 and 1250 by the Franciscans. These themselves had only founded their order here on Gotland in 1210.

The church ruins are located in Visby. The church and the associated monastery were founded in 1233 by the Franciscan order, founded in 1210, and completed around 1250.
After its conquest by the Lübeckers in 1525, the church fell into disrepair.
The monastery remained relatively modest. The number of monks probably hovered around the required number of thirteen.

S:ta Karins was founded in 1233 by Franciscan monks. In the 1250s the church was rebuilt, construction lasted until the 14th century and was generally never finished because the construction was too grandiose. Eventually it was destroyed by the Germans, like most other churches in the city.
It is said that there was once rich decoration and many valuable relics and even a large organ, but after the Germans there were only bare walls. The kyrkoruin is nevertheless being carefully restored, everything is being covered with a new roof, there is electric light inside, the benches are set up.
