The Revierpark Nienhausen is a park in Gelsenkirchen. The approximately 30-acre Revierpark was opened in 1972 and is located west of downtown in the district Feldmark on the city limits to Essen-Katernberg. The operator of the district park is Revierpark Nienhausen GmbH, founded in 1969, in which the Regionalverband Ruhr holds a 50% share and the cities of Gelsenkirchen and Essen 25% each.
The offer includes the maintenance of a 30 hectare park area, the operation of a free and wave pool (summer season) and a large sauna and brine facility. The complex offers nine saunas, a spa with massage and beauty treatments and various relaxation options. The sauna and brine landscape regularly counts over 210,000 visitors per year. [1] The Sports and Health Center of the Essen Sports Federation offers a variety of sports and health courses and a studio overlooking the park. In the adjoining Physiotherapiepraxis there is the possibility to be treated with medical prescriptions. The parkland, which is open all year round, presents old trees, paths and meadows, several playgrounds, a basketball court, a water playground and a miniature golf course. The seminar center offers various rooms for holding conferences and business events.
Realignment to the health park
From mid-2009 to the end of 2011, the company was reorganized to become Nienhausen Health Park, where a comprehensive expansion and restructuring of the individual operating areas was carried out. Visitors have since then the opportunity to take advantage of nine offers: sauna and brine, sports and health by the Essen City Sports Association with additional physiotherapy, spa, outdoor pool, dining, seminar center and park.
